Landon Astaniex Elmore

I am Landon Astaniex Elmore. To get to know me better, here’s some interesting information about me! I am a rising digital artist and photographer. My family sure is the best! A cool fact is that our family name, Elmore, was a name often associated with a sense of mysticism due to its connection to elm trees which are known for their rapid growth.

My favorite book currently has to be the book I’m reading right now, A Curse So Dark And Lonely. I love the suspense. You never know a character fully because you’re constantly learning more about all of them. My favorite hero is someone real, my mom. I love her because she does everything for me and my needs. She helps me and has always supported me. Even now, she’s helping me find a high school. When I grow up, I want to be a digital artist because it’s a hobby that I’ve quickly felt a real passion for and hope to turn into a career.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” I love this quote because it reminds me any positive action I take will lead to even more positive change. However small, this progress will be significant.

BK2BAMA is an amazing program that specializes in showing kids like me Black history around New York, Georgia, and even Alabama. If you want more information, read through this website or follow us on Instagram @bk2bama! I joined BK2BAMA to gain a deeper understanding of history’s truths, especially those related to Black history. During our April break, all BK2BAMA scholars will travel to Atlanta, Georgia, and throughout Alabama. I’m especially excited to tour Tuskegee University because my eighth-grade homeroom is called Tuskegee. I’m excited to expand my knowledge of Tuskegee, Booker T. Washington (who we just studied), and this university’s values.
