There is so much history in Alabama: the Montgomery bus boycott, Selma Marches, Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing, and more. Alabama was the base of much civil rights activism. Going there will be like re-witnessing those experiences firsthand. Booker T. Washington once said “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” The men and women of the Civil Rights Movement had to struggle. Without their perseverance, they would never have been able to change the world. Their impact on today is huge. They have affected how diverse our society is and how accepting people are. They changed history for the better.
